We introduce Gridlook, an open-source visualization tool developed by MPI-M and DKRZ to make climate data explorable and tangible. Running entirely in the web browser, Gridlook allows users to interactively explore open Zarr datasets—no installation required, just access it via a link. Using the WCRP HK25-global-hackathon activity as a case study, we show how even high-resolution (2.5 km) global climate model outputs on a Healpix grid can be visualized on an ordinary web device. Bring your own Zarr dataset—it may already be ready for use with Gridlook.
